How Can We Help?
The Pray for Effect Step of 5 Step Prayer Model – Randy Clark
The “Prayer for Effect” step in the 5-step prayer model involves speaking to the condition directly, based on the diagnosis and prayer selection made in the previous steps. This step is about taking action and applying the selected prayer strategy to bring about healing or change. Here’s how the “Prayer for Effect” step is described by Randy, along with examples:
- Speaking to the Condition: This involves directly addressing the ailment, whether it’s a physical issue or a spiritual problem.
- If it’s a spirit, the minister should command it to leave.
- If it’s a physical condition, the minister will speak to the affected body part, commanding it to be healed.
- For example, if a person has a blown-out disc, the minister would command the disc to be restored.
- Wounds: If the issue is a result of a wounding, prayer is directed towards healing that wound.
- In this video, Randy does not offer specifics on how to pray for wounds.
- Following God’s Lead: It is important to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and follow God’s lead in prayer. This means paying attention to the person’s responses and adjusting the prayer accordingly.
- For example, if the person feels heat in their knee while praying for a shoulder and knee, the minister should focus on praying for the knee.
- Re-interview: After praying, the minister should re-interview to see what is happening.
- The person may report feeling heat, cold, energy, or movement, which can indicate healing or the presence of an afflicting spirit.
- The person might also report that their pain is getting better, worse, or moving.
- Randy mentions that 50% of people feel something when they are healed.
- It is also noted that 50% of people who get healed do not feel anything.
- 10-15% may not be healed in the meeting but will be healed in the next day or two.
- The minister should continue to pray as long as something is happening, and should stop when it is clear that nothing more is happening.
- If the person reports improvement, the minister should thank God and continue to pray, blessing what God is doing.
- The minister may pray multiple times for the same issue until it is resolved.
- Praying with eyes open: When praying for the sick, the minister should pray with their eyes open so that they can observe the person’s physical reactions.
- Be aware of a process: Sometimes healing will happen in a process. Randy describes an example of a woman who received healing over an hour and a half during a series of intense experiences.
- Use specific language: Randy explains that when commanding a spirit to leave or when addressing a physical issue the minister should use specific, clear language.
Lessons Learned During the “Prayer for Effect” Step:
- Cooperation with the Holy Spirit: The “Prayer for Effect” step is not about the minister’s power or abilities, but about working with the Holy Spirit.
- Pray with faith but don’t focus on manifestations: It is important to have faith, but it is also important not to focus on phenomena or manifestations. Our faith is in the promises of God and not in whether a person feels anything.
- Be specific: You should be specific in prayer, such as commanding a specific pain to leave or asking for a specific body part to be healed.
- Persistence: The minister should continue to pray as long as something is happening, and should stop when it is clear that nothing more is happening.
- Bless God: If there is improvement, the minister should bless God for what he has done, and continue to ask for more.
