Four levels of Demons
Ken Fish’s presentation, titled “Occult Spiritual Warfare,” describes a hierarchical structure of evil spirits, explaining that they are organized in a pyramid with four levels. The speaker uses a military analogy to describe the different levels, comparing them to different ranks in an army See minutes: [15:39-16:32]. Here are the four levels of demons according to Ken Fish
- Baseline evil spirits are the most common spirits encountered. These are also called “rulers” by Paul and they can have names such as lust, drug addiction, or a specific type of worship like Artemis worship. Ken Fish states these spirits are not weak or unimportant, but they are simply the most common.
- Authorities oversee clusters of baseline evil spirits. Using the military analogy, Fish explains that if the baseline spirits are like “privates and corporals”, then authorities are like “sergeants”. He says they keep the platoons together.
- Dominion-level spirits are the “commissioned officers” in Satan’s army. These are not world spirits, but they are regional, and their region can vary greatly. He explains that he has encountered Dominion level spirits in places like Taiwan, where it might control a city block, or in Central America, where a spirit had dominion from Costa Rica to Northern Colombia and Venezuela. He also relates that when the power of the dominion-level spirit in Central America was broken, there was a massive move of evangelism and a chain of volcanoes became active. He uses the example of the spirit of Artemis in Ephesus as a dominion-level spirit that had influence over the whole city.
- World Spirits: According to Ken Fish, these spirits are known all over the world. He gives the example of the “Queen of the Seas,” which he says is also a stage name for Saint Mary in the Catholic Church. He also mentions archetypes which are spirits behind whole trends in society, like drug addiction which looks similar across different regions of the world.
Ken Fish relates a story in the Book of Mark, where Jesus rebukes the wind and waves, saying the Greek word used is only found in the Bible when dealing with demons. This storm was a demonic attack to try and stop Jesus from getting to the other side of the lake. Upon arrival, Jesus confronts a man possessed by 6,000 demons, called Legion, who he believes was the host of the dominion-level spirit that had sway over the Decapolis, a confederation of ten cities. After Jesus delivers the man from the demons, Jesus tells him to stay and tell everyone what God has done for him because the demonic covering has been removed and the gospel can go forth.
