Premature sexualization and inner healing

According to Ken Fish, a significant portion of mental health issues are linked to premature sexualization. He clarifies that while not all mental health problems stem from this, it is a contributing factor. Premature sexualization, biblically defined as occurring before marriage, can negatively impact an individual’s mind.

Ken Fish references a statistic from the psychiatric community, stating that 90% of women in mental hospitals in the United States are victims of rape. This highlights the severe mental health consequences that can result from sexual trauma. Additionally, he notes that many youths struggle with anxiety and a lack of self-confidence, sometimes leading to suicidal thoughts or a fascination with death. He suggests that these issues are often linked to premature sexualization, which may include rape or “coercive voluntary” experiences like sexting.

Ken Fish explains that even seemingly voluntary acts like sexting can lead to humiliation and emotional damage when those acts become public. He asserts that people are “hardwired by God” to understand that such behavior is not acceptable. He ties this into a discussion about biblical understanding of sex as more than just an act, but the “uncovering of nakedness,” which he says leads to issues with pornography and its destructive effects.

He also explains that, in the context of inner healing, these issues stemming from premature sexualization are categorized as sins committed against an individual, rather than sins committed by an individual. This distinction is important in inner healing, where the focus is on addressing the emotional and psychological wounds caused by the actions of others
